17 of 17 people found the following review helpful: Ever assembled a bridge before?, February 11, 2011 By Jane (California) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Full Size Wood Box Foundation for memory foam, latex, and air mattresses They must have changed this product in the last few months. Maybe seven months ago it was much better than pictured, but now it is certainly low quality. I didnt expect the quality of a piano, but I expected better than this. The wood pieces looked like the trusses for a bridge, and it was quite difficult to put together properly. The only extra touch was that the corners were rounded, so you don't snag anything. I used a hammer to force the corners in (dont forget the middle lengthwise truss during the initial assembly -- it does NOT slip into a slot later, as mentioned in one of the other reviews. I did have the full size, which may be different from the queen). I also used glue so it wouldnt squeak later, and I nailed each slat because they were not straight and would have shifted. But when all was said and done it cost half as much as a real one, it does support the mattress, and will be covered by the bedspread. There is a cloth cover, so the wood isnt actually exposed... 14 of 15 people found the following review helpful: Does what it says, easy assembly, December 1, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Full Size Wood Box Foundation for memory foam, latex, and air mattresses I bought this foundation to replace an aging foundation that had stared sagging and creaking when weight was put on it. I live one state over from the distributor, so I received it the day after it shipped, less than a week after ordering. It comes in a tall (about 6.5 ft) box that weighs about 55 lbs, so while it's a little awkward, one person can move it. The outer wood box pieces are partially assembled, so that you only have to join the head and foot pieces to the side and middle pieces with dowels (already in place) and bolts. One person can assemble this with little difficulty. The top slats, which are spaced and held to each other with canvas ribbon, are rolled out on top of the assembled box and fastened with six screws. The foundation comes with all hardware necessary for assembly. The package also includes an appropriately sized wrench, though a ratchet with a 1/2 bolt will speed up assembly. The six screws that hold the top slats to the foundation box secure three... Read more
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful: Ok but better ways to spend money, March 26, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: 8" Queen Size Wood Box Foundation for memory foam, latex, and air mattresses It gets three stars because it does what it says; However, it's a cheap product and you're better off spending a little more for a true box springs or just buy some flat planks for your foam mattress. After two days, one of the boards has broken.
